👑Maybe you follow Vogue or Forbes to see what the biggest fashion trends are this year but for me, I actually pay attention to what’s trending around me. Not all fashion trends happen on the runway so just paying attention to your surroundings can tell you a lot. This is especially true for me when I travel and so far this year, I have traveled to the socialite city of Charleston, SC and the tourist city of Orlando, FL and spotted a few fashion trends myself.

Shirts
Short-sleeve button up shirts seemed to be popular at all the popular stores we shopped at in Florida. What really seemed to make the difference was the sleeve. The sleeves are not long at all and are cuffed or have the illusion of being cuffed. Of course, I had to buy a few just keep up with what’s trending.
Dresses
Now I have to say that I’m not a big dress person but I have to say that I did notice that off-the-shoulder dresses with poofy sleeves were popping up everywhere in Charleston. Another notable dress trend to be on the lookout for is the tier dress.
Shoes
Guess what shoes are making a comeback? Thick-heeled or “chunky” heeled shoes was another trend that I spotted all over Charleston. Chunky shoes are comfortable enough for walking around during the day and stylish enough to wear with your favorite evening dress.
Swimwear
The big trend this year for swimwear seems to be cover-ups. This may have to do with the fact that many of us gained some weight over the months of staying at home and want to hide some of it or it’s just to look cute. Either way, cute crochet and mesh cover-ups are very popular at the resort this year.
Men’s Fashion Trend
Did you think I forgot about the guys? Well I didn’t and the most popular trend I seen for the guys was slim-fit blazers. Of course the traditional dinner jackets will never go out of style but this year the cut, colors and patterns gave the blazer a new breath of life.
Other Trends
Now this trend is not a fashion trend but it was the biggest trend of all: people with dogs. Being at home for so long last year, I think people decided that it was the perfect time to get a dog. There were people walking dogs, running with dogs, holding dogs and even pushing dogs in strollers everywhere we went. I don’t think I have ever seen so many dogs while on vacation.
Next time you are out and about, take a few minutes to spot what the biggest fashion trend is surrounding you.
