๐Ÿ‘‘There is a story behind the “Don’t worry until you have to worry” mug that I have in my Etsy shop. Not all of my designs have a story with them but this particular one is dear to me.

As you know the older you get, the more you need to take care of yourself because things start changing with age.๐Ÿ˜‰ With that being said, I make sure I take my daily vitamins, get a yearly physical and a yearly mammogram. Well this year my physical was fine once again but my mammogram visit went a little differently than expected.

When I leave the office, they always tell me that they will call if there is an issue otherwise I should expect a letter in the mail within the next 2 weeks with the results. That was on a Thursday. The following Monday morning I received a phone call from their office asking me to make a follow up appointment for another exam. My heart sank ๐Ÿ’” because I had never had a follow up exam. Of course I scheduled the appointment for the earliest available time which would be on Wednesday, two days away.

From that point forward, it preyed upon my mind about all the “what ifs” and how I would handle it. No matter how I tried to push it away, the thoughts just lingered in the background. I tried not to show my worry because I didn’t want anyone else to start worrying too. The following morning my loving husband, Steven, asked me if I was okay and I responded with – “I have a lot on my mind”. I know he could sense the worry that I was trying to bury the best I knew how.

We said our goodbyes and I got in the car to leave for work. As I backed out of the garage, he came up to my window and said, “someone told me this a long time ago – don’t worry until you have to worry”. He gave me a kiss and I left for work. I pondered on those words and let the words really speak to me. Why worry about something that you don’t even know if you really have something to be worried about? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ What exactly would worrying about it change? Nothing. It was exactly what I needed to hear that day and that alone put my mind at ease.

Now here comes the day of the appointment and I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous once I was inside the office but those words of wisdom paid off. I am happy to say that everything is all clear! ๐ŸŽ‰ That’s why I will always remember those encouraging words and I dedicate the “Don’t Worry” mug design to Steven. Those words alone made such an impact on me and that’s why I wanted to share this story with you. The mug is created to be a daily reminder of those simple but powerful words. ๐Ÿ˜‰
