4 Reasons for a Beach Trip in the Winter

đź‘‘When people think of a beach trip, most picture it being during the warmer months. Sand, sun and ocean is what comes to mind, but there are some advantages to visiting the beach in the off season. It’s actually pretty fun hanging out with the locals because you can learn a lot about what is really going on behind the scenes. Here are 4 more reasons for taking a beach trip during the winter:

Reason #1 for a beach trip- Hotel rates are cheaper.

During the off-season, hotels at the beach will give deep discounts on the rooms. If no one is staying in the rooms, then the hotel is losing money. To keep the money flowing during the off-season, most hotels will have low rates to attract guests. We snagged a great oceanfront suite from the Courtyard by Marriot on our trip to Myrtle Beach.

Reason #2 – It’s not as crowded.

Winter at the beach may still be chilly, but it’s not as crowded. You can actually cruise the main strip if you wanted to because traffic is not bad. The sidewalks are not crowded, the beach isn’t congested, and you don’t have to fight the crowds to get into the bars and restaurants. Now I have to say that not all restaurants, bars, shops and attractions are open during the winter but there are plenty of places to go.

Reason #3 – Shopping discounts & sales.

Just like the hotel rates, shops offer deep discounts and sales during the winter months to get shoppers attention and to move inventory. Another plus is that the stores aren’t as crowded so you can actually take a minute to look around and shop. We stepped into at store called Del Sol at Broadway at the Beach and were amazed by the color changing merchandise they had on sale. Check it out next time you visit!

Reason #4 – You can actually relax and enjoy the simple things.

Well, you have to do something while at the beach so why not slow down, let loose and enjoy the simple things. Take a stroll on the beach, visit the Aquarium or even take a drive down to Murrels Inlet for a nice dinner and view. You may have visited these places many of times before but there such a calmer vibe in the winter verses the summer. It’s like you can see the realness and beauty more than before.

As a bonus here are two places we really enjoyed eating at while on our beach trip:

As you can see the view in Myrtle Beach, SC is just as beautiful in the winter as it is in the summer. There are still plenty to do and see if you need activities. If you don’t need any activities, then it’s perfect for rest and relaxation as well. If you love traveling to the beach in the winter, leave a comment below and let us know where and why!
